Founded in 1978, Phoebe's Home is a center for victims of domestic violence and their children. Phoebe's Home operates 24 hours a day, and primarily serves Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Robertson and Washington counties.
All Phoebe's Home residential and non-residential services are provided at no charge to participants.
ELIGIBILITY: Must be at least 18 years old or legally emancipated (a minor mother or a married minor), and, must have been a victim of emotional, physical or sexual abuse. An open police case regarding the abuse is not required.
Phoebe's Home provides: nutritional meals, laundry facilities, child care (through referral), daily needs (toiletries, clothing), case management, counseling (individual, group and family therapy for adults and children), transportation, legal and medical referrals, recreational activities, prevention and education, parenting classes, volunteer program and bi-lingual (Spanish) services.
The average length of stay at Phoebe's Home, which can house up to 45 individuals, is 30-45 days. Extensions are granted, when necessary, if goals are being met. Residential clients are often eligible to apply for transitional housing through Home Partners, a program of Twin City Mission. Case management, counseling and attention to daily needs are available for domestic violence victims who enroll in Phoebe'sHome Non-Residential program.

Phoebe's Home supports an active volunteer program, which offers community members a chance to assist with the daily operation of the shelter. Volunteer opportunities include: assisting with clerical support, child care, organizing/facilitating children's activities, tutoring, education/training for residents, assisting with daily living activities, minor maintenance, grounds keeping and fundraising. Phoebe's Home is an outreach program of Twin City Mission, a non profit organization, funded by the United Way, Department of Human Services, Community Development Block Grant, ESGP, Criminal Justice Division Funding (Violence Against Women Act and Victims of Crime Act), various foundations and local support.
Phoebe's Home also provides outreach services. The seven counties of the Brazos Valley Region include: Brazos, Burleson, Leon, Madison, Grimes, Robertson and Washington. Outreach staff facilitate domestic violence task forces in each of the seven counties. The goal of these task forces is to promote awareness about domestic violence and strengthen victims services.
